High School Musical mania hits the boro….
If you have a daughter between the age of 5 and 25 then she has probably been hit by Disney’s High School Musical buzz. One of Edie Grace’s birthday parties this year was a High School Musical party. We rented the Averitt Center for the Arts and had a sleepless slumber party where the girls watched the movie. Mr. Tim at the Arts Center told us about the High School Musical play directed by Tony Phillips and of course Edie Grace wanted to try out. She was crushed when she learned that only high school aged girls and guys were
allowed to apply. Then she learned about the High School Musical camp that is being held this week. We signed up immediately and for weeks she has looked out the window of her bedroom to see if the Marquee on the Emma Kelly Theater read High School Musical. Well Saturday - they changed the Marquee - finally it was time for the camp. Edie Grace barely could sleep last night. This morning the camp began. She read the part for Gabriella Montez and she got a call back.(Every girl wants to be her - including me - so somehow I am sure Tony being the master he is has figured out a way to make every girl Gabriella Montez) Tomorrow is day two. The camp seems to be a huge success. Edie Grace has talked about nothing else since returning. In fact, we are currently watching the DVD along with every stuffed animal she owns - as she practices on the “big stage” which is also our living room. The picture with the marquee in the background is actually taken from Edie Grace’s bedroom. Yes we live above the studio and we LOVE loft living downtown. No grass to mow! What could possibly be better than that? We even had to rearrange our vacation to swim with the dolphins at Discovery Cove so Edie Grace would not miss the camp. Can you remember the last time you were this excited about anything? We will keep you posted on the camp. ![]()
