If you read my blog you know how passionate I am about the new HPV cancer vaccine.  Along this journey I had the wonderful opportunity to meet a new mom who happened to be a feature writer for the Savannah Morning News.  Anne Hart befriended me and wrote a wonderful article about me, my battle with cancer and my passion to help prevent other women from having to fight cervical cancer.   Her article was so wonderful that the Morris New service distributed it all over the country.  From this distribution the Associated Press decided to do another story on me and released it on their international wire.  In a matter of days, we were receiving calls from all over the world.  All of this, thanks to one little story written by a passionate and caring mom in Savannah, Georgia.

Anne has stepped out into a new venture and has put her writing talents to work launching a phenomenal web site for savvy moms - www.SouthernMamas.com  Anne has asked me to participate and contribute to the web site from time to time.  This is a much needed resource and I hope that each of you will check it out and let me know what you think?  Please pass it along to all the mom’s in you network of friends!

SouthernMamas.com is an online resource for savvy moms from Savannah to Statesboro to Hilton Head Island.  The aim of the Web site is to keep parents hip to children?s events and programs, baby products, parenting services (such as talented photographers) and more. Since its start in early September, SouthernMamas.com is quickly becoming a one-stop source to find out the best of what our area has to offer children and parents.

SouthernMamas.com provides new content daily. Look for fun tips on birthday venues, weekend outings, children?s books and music, ?green? baby products and family-friendly eateries. SouthernMamas.com also provides a weekly email newsletter. The newsletter, available to subscribers for free, spotlights the best local programs and events for the week ahead and provides shopping discounts and specials to subscribers.

Local freelance writer Anne Hart started the Web site nine months after she and her husband had their first child. The web site is the result of Anne?s difficult decision to quit her full time job as a newspaper reporter to stay home with their son. She continues to write a weekly Sunday column for the Savannah Morning News.
