If your a cancer survivor here is your chance to treat yourself, document your survival success and help give others a chance to win against cancer - by supporting the American Cancer Society’s Relay for life.
On tax day - next Tuesday, April 15th I am photographing cancer survivors for a $49 contribution to American Cancer. The proceeds will go to Madison Merrifield’s team. Madison is featured on the poster here.
The portrait can be the survivor alone or her family or friends with them.
Don’t miss this great opportunity - call my studio at 912-764-7274 and book your session now.
We finished our last Strasuburg Children session at 7:30 - what a DAY! The bunnies are EXHAUSTED as are we! I must warn each of you who took advantage of this great day in the park - that your pictures are AMAZNG! It was overcast - so almost every image includes the beautiful fountain in the background. We look forward to seeing all of you next week. Special thanks to Yulanda and Tyler for sharing your superb bunny chasing skills with us.
The response from our spring promotions have been a bit overwhelming. We are booking now into late May and early June. If you are thinking about booking me for a session in the next couple of months - I encourage you to call this week to get on my calendar. Many of you have been a little shocked when you called and we could not even get you in for a consult within the next three weeks.
We look forward to seeing you all soon!
Tuesday we have another sold out day at Forsyth Park. The weather looks great and the bunnies have rested well. They are so excited about seeing all of you tomorrow. If you have any questions call Josh at 912-764-7274. It will be a little cool in the morning so bring a light jacket or sweater. The forecast is calling for cloudy skies which is good. It should be as beautiful as the previous Strasburg days.
If you did not make it on the list this year please sign up early for next year. We are also working on a beach day at Tybee. Watch my blog and keep checking with Strasburg Children in Oglethorpe Mall.
Right below our mall gallery the great folks at Savannah Mall have installed a super cool soft play area. Edie Grace inspected it and has given it her seal of approval. Next time you visit the mall make sure to check out our gallery outside the mall entrance of Target. Walk down the steps after you check out our gallery and your children will be in soft play heaven. You might as well make a visit to Savannah Candy Company and stock up while you’re in the mall. Savannah Candy is owned by terrific clients of ours. Edie Grace loves their chocolates and sugar sticks. Make sure you check them both out soon!
Tommy Lewis of Lewis Color has probably printed thousands of annual reports throughout his printing career. This particular annual report project was a little different. Tommy was featured in the Synovus annual report that reached stockholders today throughout the world. Tommy and his company are long term clients of Synovus affiliate Sea Island Bank.
Synovus commissioned me to photograph this special photo for the report. Chad Averitt the banker featured is the son in law of Snooky’s owner Bruce Yawn. Bruce was the first person we photographed for the popular Sea Island Bank “Smart” campaign.
I have photographed both of these beautiful children since their birth. It is so much fun to watch them grow. This was the son’s 18 month session and the daughter’s five year. They both are Baby’s First Year plan children. Nothing is more amazing than documenting artistically how much a child develops and changes their first year. We have photographed the daughter every few months of her life. Mom and dad are very busy. He is a well known local doctor and mom is a talented pharmacist. They work hard to keep all of us in great health. I am not sure how they do all they do professionally and enjoy their dedication to being phenomenal parents.
Don’t you just love their outfits?

Our annual Strasburg Children portrait event has been more popular than ever. The event is a spring event designed to promote Strasburg’s new spring and Easter lines. Last week we photographed nearly 20 families in the park and it was SO beautiful. The event sold out so fast that we started a waiting list. We have scheduled a second day for next Tuesday, April 8th. However this day is ALMOST sold out ALSO! We have TWO openings left. The Easter bunnies have agreed to stay over for this event. They are optional - but if you want us to include them - there will be no additional cost.
Call the office at 912-764-7274 as soon as you read this - if you are interested in being part of this event. The price is $199 an it includes the session, one 8×10, 2 5×7’s and 8 wallets of your one favorite pose. Of course you can purchase more if you’d like…we won’t mind.
The images posted here are just a few from last week’s sessions. Hope to see you on the 8th!

It always helps when you have a beautiful subject, but there is simply an artistic beauty that hand painted oils give a portrait. We recommend formal oil portraits before your child looses his or her teeth. This usually occurs between four and five. There is no question that an oil portrait such as this will certainly become an heirloom that will be passed down for generations.
Twice a year I get a surge of calls from clients inquiring about my oil, watercolor and other fine art products. They have been contacted by a “friend” who is pushing them to purchase an oil from a traveling oil artist. I want to inform you about the “traveling oil” artists that swing through our area a couple of times per year. They have deals too good to be true - because they are. Make sure you compare apples to apples so you won’t get snookered. These folks are very polished with their pitches. They offer a very low price on the front end to get you committed. They know that once you go through the trouble of having your child sit for the session - they have you hooked. We offer open and honest pricing which is all inclusive of the product you select. You will not be surprised by add-ons for “detailed” backgrounds or have to purchase expensive frames because the portrait was painted at a non-standard size.
Today, I had a new client call me and tell me about her $9.99 experience at a big box retailer that has a photography “studio” in the store. After they took the pictures she realized that the special rate did not qualify for the background she preferred and that there were lots of hooks and catches in the pricing. To get what she really wanted cost her $350. Several years ago, industry statistics stated that the average client spent over $250 at one of these low end - high volume locations. They got lots of pictures - but they lack much when it comes to quality and customer service.
I share this only to continue to help you understand how these “traveling artists” work. You will pay more, for lesser quality, and much poorer customer service. Before you get hooked into doing what your “friends” are doing give me a call. By-the-way, your “friend” is encouraging you to do it - because she is probably getting a referral credit towards her purchase.
For the over 20 years we have been in business we have built our reputation on providing tremendously creative, high quality portraits for every client - every time.
