Congratulations to Katy Burrell who was selected as Most (MISS) Photogenic at the Southeast Bulloch Middle School (SEBMS) pageant this past weekend. I have lost count how many of my clients have won photogenic awards – but each one is very refreshing.
Katy is no different. She is a wonderfully beautiful girl. I am so proud of her and all the pageant winners.
Jan is a great friend, client and a terrific County Commissioner in Bulloch County. DeWayne, Edie Grace and I have been long time supporters of Jan. We have hosted events for her and been great cheer leaders for her throughout her tenure. Of course, you know I am all about "girl power" so I always enjoy supporting and encouraging capable women in positions of leadership. From her first election, Jan has exceeded our expectations. She quickly became a much needed moderate voice on our commission. She is known for studying the issues and LISTENING to both sides before making her decision.
If you do not know Jan, she is certainly someone you need to get to know.
As an elected county Commissioner, Jan is a member of an organization comprised of commissioners throughout Georgia. It is the Association of County Commissioners (ACCG) It is an important and powerful group of elected officials who unite in one voice on issues of importance to all of our counties in Georgia.
Several years ago Jan was elected to the ACCG board of directors. In January, she will become President of this impressive organization. As part of this distinct honor, she will be featured in their monthly magazine in January. In addition to featuring Jan, they will also feature our community and region that Jan is such an integral part of.
Even though my week has been tremendously hectic just returning from being out of the country for nine days - I made room for Jan to update her head shots for the publication.
Nothing thrills me more than to see friends and clients continue to give of their time and abilities to lead our communities. Jan is certainly a great example of this.
I also predict that this is just another step along a very bright path for Jan. We anxiously await the next step of her journey.

How was I to know that the model I was shooting on the beach was going to only wear a very small bathing suit. I know what your thinking - most of the people on Tybee should wear more not less - me included! Obviously this day and this model was an exception. I have NEVER seen so many camera phones pop out to photograph anything before as we did during this session. Fortunately, we were traveling with security that day - as I often do on public shoots like this. He along with the life guards did a great job with crowd control. I do apologize for all of you that may have been "dusted" or should I say "sanded" by the hovering coast guard helicopter - but I think when you got home and showed off the pictures in your camera phone - it was worthwhile.
This was yet another great session with another HOT Guy for my "special" project all of you are going to love. Can you say 4% body fat? Well if you can imagine that - then you will understand the secret to looking like this. We had a BLAST!
Krisha and Christine - hope you didn’t mind me passing out your cards to all the folks that were pelted with sand - when they wanted to know who the photographer was? Since you are two of my best blog readers - I knew you would know the real story after reading this and would be happy to help me explain.

Some sessions are much more difficult than others. For the next few weeks I am working on a project that requires - no, demands - that I photograph VERY good looking young men. I have been shooting a good bit at Tybee and downtown Savannah the last couple of weeks. My last model for this project was C BUZZ. I am not sure what that means - hopefully it is not too risque. He was a lot of fun and, believe it or not, surprisingly shy. He certainly attracts attention - especially shirtless - even on the beach. But I will let you judge for yourself. I have hand picked an interesting group of guys for this project. Just think Christmas Present for you and every lady on your Christmas list. I predict even your great grandmother will enjoy this gift!
I know it is a very difficult job - but someone must do it - right?
I promised you a VERY special surprise from my Nashville trip and here it is. How many of you are country music fans? More specifically Danielle Peck fans? If you are, you have probably seen her music video from her latest released single - “Bad for Me.” The male model staring in the video - the one that is bad for her - is a long time Lori Grice client and Georgia Southern grad Keith Johnson. Keith graduated from GSU with an engineering degree and grew up in Baxley. While he was at GSU I discovered him and was the first photographer to photograph him professionally. The image attached was his first modeling gig that helped me along the road to obtaining my Masters. The twins were borrowed for the portrait. Shortly after this session I sent a few of his images to a friend of mine that was shooting covers for Vogue, Cosmo, Vanity Fair and a few other publications. He went nuts over Keith and the rest is history.
After several years of modeling professionally, Keith moved to Nashville to continue his modeling career and pursue his music talents. In addition to staring in Danielle Peck’s video, he has recorded a few songs of his own and is currently working to release his first album. He is touring with a full band now and we hope to have him in the ‘Boro soon. In fact, that would make a GREAT THIRD girls night out - a “private” concert ONLY for Lori Grice clients? What do you think?
I have photographed him several times along the way. On Thursday night I was his guest at FUEL in Downtown Nashville where he was the featured performer for the evening.
I have never been a groupie before - but hanging out and feeling the energy of that crowd - I can understand why people become groupies. I photographed him on Friday for some upcoming events. He is going to be featured on some billboards throughout Nashville and I will get that image to you as soon as it is up.
I know what you’re thinking, it is a tuff job - but somebody has to do it right? Below is a slide show from the Nashville session. The music you are hearing is Keith singing one of his newly released singles “Caroline”. Enjoy!

Her dream is to be America’s next top model. She understands what a huge step this is. I applaud her for having the courage to step forward and chase her dream. She commissioned me to create images for her audition. She certainly has the drive and right attitude to be anything she wants. We had lots of fun and created lots of amazing images. She had trouble selecting a few for the portfolio. Here are a some of our favorites. Isn’t she beautiful? You go girl!
